Salvage Direct's in-house titling staff handles the paperwork so its insurance partners don't have to

We recognized the need and
brought titling in-house to reduce cycle times

In-house titling reduces time and costSalvage Direct recognized immediately that  required state-mandated paperwork slowed cycle times dramatically. As a result, we began doing title work with our very first auction.

You know titles are often difficult to track down, lienholders don't sign off, DMVs aren't aggressive, VIN plates are often obscured and abandons are messy. Salvage Direct handles all these headaches for its partners.

We built an entire department dedicated to salvage title work. In the past six years, the department tripled in size and we've done work in every state. Today, we're online with Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania Computerized Vehicle Registration (CVR) systems.

The result? In many cases, we've reduced processing time from three weeks to only three days.

Salvage Direct redefined the marketplace

Our focus on reducing headaches for customers redefined the salvage auction marketplace. Today, our titling work is centralized. A few states require an office in their state - where that is required, we maintain staff.

Each investment Salvage Direct makes shortens the time for an average title to clear. This continues to reduce cycle time.

Salvage Direct titling expertise handles

  • Duplicate titles when missing

  • Lien-release letters when the lienholder hasn't signed off

  • Custom programs such as owner-retention (the insured keeps the total-loss vehihcle) in Pennsylvania

  • Abandoned-vehicle paperwork

Salvage Direct is a member of NICB - we get our VIN numbers!

Salvage Direct is a member of the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB)We're obsessive about VINS - when a title doesn't match, a VIN is missing or a technician discovers a destroyed VIN we deploy multiple, labor-intense strategies to find it. This annoying problem occurs regularly on theft vehicles and vintage units.  Many of the plates don't exist or have been removed, destroyed or obscured.

Salvage Direct works directly with manufacturers to get VIN plates for commercial or vintage units too old to have them attached. In other cases, we ask the NICB to step in and find a secondary VIN.

Legal counsel

Salvage Direct developed in-house counsel to shorten the time it took to manage sales appropriately and efficiently in all legal environments. While not directly tied to reducing cycle times in every instance, our in-house counsel has been able to speed up or untangle stuck titles and other paperwork on a case-by-case basis.
